ICC public meetings
In the Communist Manifesto, Marx wrote: "the ever expanding union of the workers (...) is helped on by the improved means of communication that are created by modern industry, and that place the workers of different localities in contact with one another". In the mid-19th century, Marx was talking about the expanding rail network which allowed workers to travel easily from town to town. Today, the development of the Internet has made possible an international exchange of ideas and debate that was once slower, more difficult, and more uncertain. But the Internet nonetheless does not allow the face to face contact, the open and fraternal debate, that is irreplaceable if the working class and its political minorities are to develop a complete understanding of the capitalist society in which we live, of the problems that confront the working class in its struggle, and of the future society which must replace the society of today if capitalism is not to drag humanity down in its own ruin.
This is why the ICC has always held public meetings wherever it has a presence, and wherever the local political situation does not make this impossible.
The ICC holds two types of public meeting: Public Forums, where a presentation on a given topic is followed by free debate; and Open Meetings, where any subject of interest to the working class and the proletarian movement may be discussed.
The purpose of these meetings is the free and open exchange of ideas. We welcome all contributions, whether comrades are in agreement with us or not.
Street sales
When our resources allow it we also undertake regular street sales which are advertised on the site - you're welcome to come along and meet us there.
Discussion circles
The ICC encourages comrades who feel the need for more regular meetings than we are able to offer, of who want to go into greater depth on particular subjects, to establish discussion circles, open to all who are ready discuss openly and to make whatever contribution they can. As the occasion arises, we will also advertise these meetings on our web site.
