How to organise against technology
Printer-friendly version

Hello,

Assuming that the assorted crises on our way to the future aren't sufficient for the proletariat to risk a counter-revolution (and by proxy, revolution), we may (or indeed may not) be facing huge technological advances in the next 50 years.

How do you think people will organize against any technology which sufficiently threatens their existence?

Sorry if this question is a little dumb.

marx claims e.g. we need to

marx claims e.g. we need to “distinguish between machinery and its employment by capital” so that our politics moves from the “material instruments of production to the form of society which utilizes those instruments” ... but it's unclear how workers can organize against any genuinely existential risks... loss of pay and unemployment - sure, but what about the social problems that the new technologies could create - such as an ever widening gap in technological wealth, even to the point of annihilation ?
